Strawberry Crumble - recipe


 

Strawberry Crumble

Ingredients:

For the Strawberry Filling:

  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Crumble Topping:

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish or pie dish.
  2. Prepare the Strawberry Filling:

    • In a large bowl, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix well until the strawberries are evenly coated.
    • Pour the strawberry mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Make the Crumble Topping:

    • In a medium bowl, mix together the oats, flour, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt.
    • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the strawberry filling.
  4. Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  5. Serve:

    • Let the crumble cool slightly before serving. It’s delicious on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
