Mango Sago Recipe
Ingredients:
For the sago:
- 1/2 cup (100g) sago pearls
- 4 cups (1 liter) water
For the mango mixture:
- 2 large ripe mangoes (approximately 500g), peeled and cubed
- 1 cup (240ml) coconut milk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) evaporated milk
- 1/4 cup (50g) sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 cup (120ml) cold water or ice cubes
Optional toppings:
- Extra mango cubes
- Mint leaves
Instructions:
Cook the Sago:
- Bring 4 cups (1 liter) of water to a boil in a large pot.
- Add the sago pearls and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 10-15 minutes or until the sago pearls become translucent.
- Drain and rinse the cooked sago under cold water to remove excess starch. Set aside.
Prepare the Mango Mixture:
- In a blender, combine the cubed mangoes, coconut milk, evaporated milk, sugar, and cold water or ice cubes.
- Blend until smooth and well combined.
Assemble the Mango Sago:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked sago pearls and the mango mixture.
- Stir well to ensure the sago pearls are evenly distributed.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar if necessary.
Chill and Serve:
- Refrigerate the mango sago for at least 1 hour before serving to allow it to chill and thicken.
- Serve in bowls or glasses, garnished with extra mango cubes and mint leaves if desired.
Notes:
- The measurements for the ingredients are provided in both US and European units to cater to different preferences.
- The sweetness of the dessert can be adjusted based on the ripeness of the mangoes and personal preference.
Enjoy your refreshing Mango Sago dessert!
